Into the deep

My morning passage today from The Book of Awakening was about going into the deep. It reminded me of this photo I made last year. I don’t know this woman, but I loved how she paused from her gentle swim to stop and bathe in the rising sun. And now, I love how it perfectly illustrates what I read today—I certainly can stay safe on land where I am, or I can go into the deep… I can’t stay in the in between too long because it’s dangerous—just look at all that chop, you’ll definitely get sand in all your cracks if you stay there! No fun… and maybe if not particularly dangerous, eventually the cold water will hit my belly button, making me shreeeeek a little, and my tippy toes won’t be able to take me any higher to avoid the decision—forward or back. The deep may be unknown and it might sweep me somewhere new… or I could get eaten by a shark … but it nice to have an exciting option. It’s an option that means something different to everyone, and it is… just an option. Not necessarily the best one in every situation. I’ll let you know what I decide.
