My Story Sessions are documentary-style, which is an exciting new genre for a lot of families. Story Sessions are easy on you, your family, and your dogs (if including). It takes the stress out of a photo session and allows for true personalities. This type of photography appeals to people who reject traditional sit-stay-smile type of photo sessions, and who don’t want photos that make them look like they could be any family placed on the beach with some props. If you’re seeking authentic photos that show the uniqueness and the rhythm of your life, I will capture those moments for you.

FAQs

  • To make the most beautiful photos, don’t do anything different than any other day. Dress like you do every day, let your pets and kids be themselves, and carry on with your normal routine (or plan a special activity/event). Expect me to show up in comfy clothes, take a some time to chitter chat with anyone I don’t already know, and then you just do what you would normally do if I wasn’t there. It'll probably feel a little strange for the first 10 minutes, but before you know it you barely realize I’m there! Absolutely all of your real life is welcome. Really. Couch time, cooking, bath time, nap time, feeding time. You may think it’s boring or won’t make for good photos, but believe me these are the little blips of life you will miss. With the photos we make, you’ll be able to immerse yourself in that moment any time you want—tomorrow or 30 years from now. These photos are for people who want to feel how they felt in the moment the photo was made when they hold the photo in their hands in ten years.

  • In your home at your favorite location! I always start with the question… what do you like to do together and go from there. I have some ideas for great locations, but let’s discuss during your consultation what might be the best place to capture what you’re wanting.

  • Mostly. Black and white photography strips all distractions so you can zero in on the feeling. I will present a photo in color if it adds to the emotion moment.

  • The possibilities are endless! Your Newborn’s Routine, hanging out at the Beach, Pool, or Park, cooking together, a get-together with family or friends, and adventure with Mom or Dad, just hanging out at home, a picnic anywhere…. whatever your family likes to do most.
